As noted by the Bundesliga website, Jonas Hofmann was instrumental as Gladbach secured a 3-2 win over the Bundesliga champions. Hoffman was involved in all of Gladbach’s goals, scoring one and notching up two assists.

While Hoffman was undoubtedly a star during the game, it was Gladbach’s social media team that really stole the show.

What did Gladbach’s account do?

The German side took the opportunity to troll the German champions by sharing a photo of a very looking distraught Oliver Kahn. The photo showed Kahn looking very upset and was taken during a Bayern game against Borussia Dortmund.

“When you buy Sommer, but still can't beat Gladbach,” they captioned the post.

Why mention Sommer?

Yann Sommer was signed by Bayern from Gladbach during the January transfer window. The Swiss goalkeeper was brought in as a replacement for Manuel Neuer who broke his leg during the World Cup break.

Sommer also made history against Bayern when he made a record 19 saves against the champions, Give Me Sport reported.

How fans reacted

Bayern fans were not happy with the post, and were quick to point out to Gladbach that even though they won, they were still in the middle of the table.

Others praised the club for triggering the Bundesliga champions.

Here's what fans had to say:

@thesanabry:

"When you beat Bayern every season but still won't ever win the league."

@Pommesfreund:

"When you buy the referees but still can't qualify for Europe."

@E_Luffy__:

"At least Bayern play on three fronts, the Champions League, Bundesliga, and DFB Pokal. Your biggest achievement in a season is beating Bayern. It’s your trophy, you're a small club and will always be a small club."

@brian_iTr1:

"Winning on and off the pitch."

@arihojulio:

"This Admin is a gem man "

Oliver Kahn's heartbreaking reaction spotted

Sports Brief previously reported how Bayern Munich Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kahn was left heartbroken following Borussia Dortmund's last-minute equalizer.

Following a two-nil lead by the reigning Bundesliga champions, it appeared Kahn and his outfit will be smiling all the way to Bavaria.

They were stunned, however, as Dortmund grabbed a late equalizer to deny them all three points.
