Fans react to Mane loss

Soon after the news hit the internet about Mane’s plight, fans took to social media to declare his injury was a blow not only to Senegal, but to Africa as a whole.

Senegal was largely considered to be the strongest African nation in the tournament.

“Nicest guy in World football, crying shame!” one fan said.
“Sad for African, particularly Senegal” another added.
“This is terrible for #Africa ,” said another fan.
“This is so bad for us coz he is only our expectations for Senegal and all Africans”

Mane was the national side's talisman at the start of the year, scoring the winning penalty as Senegal became champions of Africa in February.

Interestingly, he was also the hero in the World Cup qualifier playoff, as he scored the winning penalty at the expense of Mohammed Salah’s Egypt.

'Ghana can pull off surprises'

Elsewhere, Sports Brief also reported on Ghana coach Otto Addo's suggestion that his nation can easily pull off several surprises in the World Cup.

Ghana players have landed in Qatar ahead of the global showpiece, and will face Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in a challenging Group H.

Addo commended his team on adapting fast, adding that the Black Stars were set for the future due to the wealth of young talent in the team, combined with the balance of experienced players.
