Former Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has been found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

The 2014 World Cup winner has been fined 1.2 million Euros by a German court following the assault which happened in 2018.

Boateng was dragged to court by his ex-partner after an altercation during their holidays in the Caribbean following Germany's early exit at the 2018 World Cup.

According to DW, the player initially pleaded not guilty by appealing the case which was brought against him. He was expected to pay 1.8 million after the early summon but the fine reduced following defendant's drop in net income.

The court found the 34-year-old guilty on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

"To the court's conviction, the accused threw a cooler bag in the direction of the co-accuser causing them pain during an argument on a holiday visit to the Caribbean. In the further course of this evening, the accused caused an eye injury to the co-accuser during a physical altercation and caused further injuries. In these instances, the co-accuser was also insulted," the court ruling read.

Boateng enjoyed an illustrious career with German giants Bayern Munich, where he spent a decade winning the Bundesliga multiple time and the UEFA Champions League.

He began his career at Hertha Berlin before moving to Hamburg and later on to England where he played for Manchester City.

Investigations reveal Jerome Boateng's ex-girlfriend signed Non Disclosure Agreement

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Jerome Boateng is in troubled waters with German officials, after the latest revelations disclosed the former Bayern Munich had forced his late partner to sign a non-disclosure agreement about their relationship.

Katarzyna Lenhardt was alleged to have killed herself just weeks after signing the agreement, which prompted an investigation into her death by German officials.
