Bayern Munich will kick off their defence of the Bundesliga when they travel to the Deutsche Bank Park to take on Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt tonight, August 5.

Frankfurt who finished in 11th position last season will be aiming to cause the first upset of the 2022/23 season against the defending champions.

According to Soccervista, the Europa League winners have won Bayern Munich twice out of the club’s last five meetings with Bundesliga champions and will fancy recording another victory in front of their home support.

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is ready to get going against Eintracht Frankfurt in his squad’s Bundesliga opener but has admitted Frankfurt is not exactly an easy place to start the season SB Nation reports.

“Playing in Frankfurt is never easy. We won there last year and should have won the home game too because we were clearly superior. The stadium will be enthusiastic, especially after the Europa League win. Their fans are euphoric.”

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich who has suffered 23 losses overall at the Deutsche Bank Park will be hoping not to extend their poor away record against Frankfurt.

Leon Goretzka will miss the game for Bayern Munich due to an injury, and star winger Kingsley Coman will miss it due to a suspension. Matthijs de Ligt will not start for the champions since he is not game-fit, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is still a doubt for the contest.
