19-year-old Jamal Musiala opened the scoring for Bayern in the 14th minute when he took advantage of some Leipzig uncertainty in the box and fired low into the bottom corner.

Sadio Mané then registered his first official goal for Bayern, tapping in after a cross from Serge Gnabry. Musiala was also involved in the goal, setting up Gnabry who then found Mané. Musiala then turned provider for the third before the half-time break, as he combined well with Thomas Müller before passing the ball into the box for Benjamin Pavard to smash into the back of the net.

Bayern started the second half strong as well, as Mané looked to grab a second. Bayern took their foot off the pedal as the second half wore on and Leipzig took full advantage.

André Silva first hit the post with a header from a corner before Daniel Olmo had a shot deflected over the bar. Marcel Halstenberg then grabbed a goal back on the hour mark when he headed home from a corner. Spurred on by the goal, Leipzig looked a different side in the second half as they pushed forward more.

Bayern then put the game beyond doubt as Gnabry grabbed their fourth. Müller smashed a ball towards goal which was pushed away by Péter Gulácsi. The ball was then rifled into the roof of the net by Gnabry.

Christopher Nkunku then grabbed a second for the hosts from the penalty spot. Pavard was found guilty of committing a foul on Olmo and Nkunku stepped up to score.

While Leipzig were pushing for a third, Mané was also trying to grab his second, and constantly looked like a threat. Mané scored two goals in the second half but had both ruled off for offside.

Olmo set up an exciting last few minutes as he scored in the 89th minute after some great build-up play.

Leipzig had a free kick in the final moments but were countered and conceded a fifth. Leroy Sané showed great skill and calmness to slot the ball home.
