Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies has finally opened up on the challenges he faced after he missed almost 5-months of football action when he was diagnosed with an inflammatory heart condition.

The 21-year-old Canadian had suffered complications after contracting Covid-19 during the winter summer break of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season.

According to ESPN, Davies revealed the whole experience was scary for him as a player as he feared his football career was over as there was no time frame for his return.

"That was very scary, especially because the doctors are saying that they don't know how long I was supposed to be out," I think that was the scariest part.
"At that time I had doubts in my head, about whether I'm still going to be able to play football, but everything worked out at the end. I'm happy and I'm grateful for the doctor taking such good care of me.”

Alphonso Davies would later return in April 2022 and he revealed he is delighted to be back playing football again.

Bayern Munich sign Matthijs De Ligt for €80m

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has confirmed they have signed Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus in one of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window.

According to Marca, the Dutch defender will cost the Bundesliga champions €80m as the Bavarians will pay Juventus €70m upfront and a further €10m in variables.

Matthijs De Ligt will immediately join the rest of the Bayern Munich team in their training camp in the United States, where he will take part in a number of friendly matches.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Bayern Munich have suffered a massive setback in their preparations for the new Bundesliga season which begins in just two weeks.

The Bundesliga champions have disclosed that German midfielder, Leon Goretzka has undergone knee surgery and will most likely miss the start of the Bundesliga season.

Goretzka would be absent for the remainder of Bayern Munich’s pre-season training tour in the USA due to the surgery.
