  • Bayern Munich had the opportunity to sign German-born Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng in his formative years but opted against it
  • This was a result of former Bayern president, Uli Hoeneß unilaterally choosing not to sanction the transfer of Prince Boateng while playing for Hertha Berlin as a youngster
  • Despite his enormous talent, Boateng would only reach his potential when he joined Italian side AC Milan after an excellent World Cup with Ghana

Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich could have added Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng to their roster but for the intervention of then-president Uli Hoeneß.

This was revealed by the club's former assistant coach, Hermann "Tiger" Gerland, who tried to convince Hoeneß to sign the budding talent.

“He had the potential to be an absolute world star,” he told DAZN as quoted by Ghanaweb.

Boateng, who was one of the most promising players in Germany by then, was proposed to Hoeneß to sign him, but Gerland's recommendation hit a snag.

"So, I called Uli [Uli Hoeneß] and said: 'You, Uli, we have to get Kevin-Prince Boateng. Then he asked me, 'Where is he playing?' Then I said: 'Well at Hertha.' Then he said: 'That's not possible, my brother's manager is there.”

Kevin-Prince Boateng; the nomadic footballer

Despite missing out on joining the Bavarians, Kevin will eventually join rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, he failed to shine at the Westfalenstadion leading to several loan moves.

He eventually settled at Portsmouth before exploding to prominence at AC Milan, where he won the Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana.

The 34-year-old attacker is one of the most travelled players in the sport, having played for over a dozen clubs across England, Spain, Germany and Italy.

He currently plies his trade in Germany for boyhood club, Hertha Berlin, where he has mustered 12 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has set his Instagram page on fire when he shared a video of himself and his new girlfriend Valentina Fradegrada.

The Hertha Berlin midfielder and the Italian model have been dating since last year, and the pair are not shy to flaunt their love on social media.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, the two lovers were making out and having fun.
