Barcelona on Tuesday, December 28, completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Man City on a five-year deal.

The Spaniard signed a deal that will run until 2027 as the club has set his buyout clause at €1billion.

According to Sky Sports, Barcelona will pay an initial £46.3m (€55m) plus a further £8.4m (€10m) in add-ons for the forward.

It was gathered despite being in a financial crisis, Barcelona have been able to secure Torres signing after receiving sizeable investment via a bank loan.

In a statement released by Barcelona, Torres will be officially unveiled at the Nou Camp and shall attend his first training session and press conference on January 3.

Torres joined Man City for an initial fee of £20.8m plus bonuses on a five-year deal in August 2020 but has played only four times in the Premier League this season, scoring twice, and once more in the Champions League.

Earlier, Sportsbrief reported that Barcelona are reportedly ready to flog out five players in January.

Since Xavi became the gaffer at Barcelona, the Spaniard has been trying to fix all the loopholes at the club and he wants to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.

Barcelona however need to recoup some money through transfer fees and make room on the wage bill in order to abide by LaLiga's financial fair play regulations.

The five stars Barcelona are looking to offload are Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, Netherland striker Luke de Jong, Sergino Dest, Frenchman Samuel Umtiti, Yusuf Demir.

Recall that it was because of the financial problems that prevented them from registering Lionel Messi which forced the Argentine to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
