  • Ansu Fati broke into Barcelona's first team at the age of 16 and was touted as the next big star from La Masia
  • The 20-year-old holds the youngest appearance and goal-scoring records in LaLiga and the Champions League
  • A series of unfortunate injuries have slowed down his meteoric rise, missing most of the previous two campaigns

Ansu Fati's father, Bori Fati, has launched a scathing attack on Barcelona following the lack of game time offered to his son.

The father of the Barcelona star expressed his rage at his son's lack of playing time this season and stated he might be open to leaving the team.

Ansu, who succeeded Lionel Messi's No.10 jersey, has seen his role at Camp Nou reduced drastically due to a myriad of issues, including nagging injuries and loss of form, per Tribalfootball.

The 20-year-old went from being Barcelona's next great thing to a peripheral figure at the club. Under coach Xavi Hernandez, he has made 38 appearances in all competitions, 71% of which have been as a substitute.

Bori Fati, who, along with agent Jorge Mendes controls his son's career, expressed his frustration with his Ansu's lack of minutes and even threatened to take him away from the club.

"If it was up to me, I would take him [to another team], but [Ansu] wants to stay at Barcelona," Bori told Cope via ESPN.
He insisted his son deserves more minutes: "He [Ansu] does not want to sign for another club, but I want to see him succeed. As a dad, I am angry.
"Seeing Ansu play so little winds you up a little bit, and sometimes I think as a father, not a coach."

Xavi speaks about Ansu's future

Sports Brief also reported that Barcelona manager Xavi is backing forward Ansu Fati to rediscover his best form again following his recent struggles with the Catalan giants.

Due to injuries and a decline in form, Fati has been confined to a fringe role this season, sparking rumours that the La Liga leaders may be considering selling the Spanish international.

Xavi has now revealed that Barcelona has no intention of selling Fati and has labelled the 20-year-old as an important member of the current Barca squad.
