Brazil legend Ronaldinho has asked for God's blessings for his son, Joao Mendes de Asis Moreira, following his move to Barcelona.

Joao Mendes joined the Catalan giants' U19 team after leaving Brazilian club Cruzeiro.

The talented youngster is expected to continue the legacy of his father in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

Ronaldinho enjoyed good times during his days in La Liga with Barcelona, winning multiple league titles and the 2006 UEFA Champions League.

At Barcelona, Ronaldinho twice won the Ballon d'Or and formed an incredible partnership with Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto'o.

He enjoyed five successful years at Barcelona before leaving to join Italian giants AC Milan in 2008.

Joao Mendes is believed to possess some of the dribbling skills of his father and despite the huge weight on his shoulders, the teen sensation is expected to excel at the club.

“I’m very happy and grateful for this big opportunity — visca Barça!," wrote Joao Mendes on Instagram after completing his move.

Ronaldinho's son joins Barcelona

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the son of former Brazil midfielder Ronaldinho, Joao Mendes de Asis Moreira has completed his move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The 17-year-old inked a deal to join the Catalans U19 team as he begins his football career outside of Brazil.

Joao Mendes took to social media to share his excitement after sealing a move to Europe.

Brazilian legend, Ronaldinho has congratulated Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James after breaking and setting a new NBA scoring record.

The four-time NBA champion surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scorer's chart after 36 points in the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 7.

James broke the record that stood for 38 years and now sits on top with 38,390 points.
