Barcelona’s chances of winning this season’s Copa del Rey could be in shambles after the club announced an injury to top forward, Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski’s absence will significantly blow Barcelona’s title ambitions, as they are already without Ousmane Dembele and Pedri, who have also been sidelined through injuries.

Real Madrid will host Xavi’s men at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday, March 2nd, hoping to exact revenge on the Catalan giants after losing the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona.

Why Lewandowski’s absence is a huge blow

Barcelona missing Robert Lewandowski’s services for the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid is regarded as a big miss for the Catalan giants due to his goalscoring prowess, Goal reports.

The Poland international is Barcelona's top goal scorer this season, with 25 goals in 31 matches, despite only joining the La Liga leaders in August.

Xavi's team travels to Madrid to face their rivals in the first leg of a cup match that could also set the tone for the title run-in following back-to-back losses to Almeria in La Liga and Manchester United in the Europa League.

Lewandowski blasted by Barcelona fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona fans are not happy with Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker failed to fire as Barcelona was beaten by Almeria in La Liga.

The former Bayern Munich star has only scored two goals this year in La Liga, with his showing against Almeria being the last straw for many fans.

Barcelona only managed one shot on target in the 90 minutes, courtesy of a game effort by Ángel Alarcón, and even used a defender as a makeshift attacker to get an equaliser.
