  • Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde has admitted that there are negatives that come with being a famous footballer
  • The 19-year-old broke into Barcelona’s first-team last season from their La Masia academy and has been a part of Xavi’s team
  • Balde has also been called to the national team as the La Masia graduate also represented Spain at the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde is not a big fan of the fame that comes with being a superstar footballer after witnessing his life change drastically.

The 19-year-old rose to fame last season when he broke into Barcelona’s first team straight from the La Masia academy and has since been a mainstay in Xavi’s set-up.

According to Football Espana, the Spanish defender has now revealed he dislikes being famous as it is not something he enjoys naturally.

“I don’t like being recognised a lot on the street, really, because maybe one day you want to be calm and people recognise you. But hey, they are things you have to go through. Yes, but I don’t like it.”

Balde has been in impressive form for Barcelona during the 2022-23 campaign, making 25 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants.

Balde wants long Barcelona stay

Meanwhile, Alejandro Balde has revealed he would love to spend many more years in Barcelona after having an excellent season with La Blaugrana this campaign, Sport Mole reports.

Balde's current deal is due to expire in June 2024, and Barcelona's financial problems led to suggestions that the full-back could potentially leave Camp Nou in the near future.

English Premier League giants Manchester United are among the top clubs credited with an interest in the 19-year-old full-back who has made 18 La Liga appearances for Barcelona this season.

Balde admits love for Man United

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Alejandro Balde may have a long-term contract at Camp Nou, but the promising left-back has admitted he has a soft spot for Man United.

Balde has enjoyed a stunning rise to prominence at the Catalan club and has managed to establish himself as a key squad member for Xavi's side.

The teenage sensation looks set to have replaced Jordi Alba on the left-back, having started 12 of Barcelona's 14 La Liga games this season.
