  • Xavi's 11 wins in a row in all competitions equals Pep Guardiola's best winning streak as Barcelona manager
  • The Catalans continued their fine run of results to secure an important 1-0 win over Villarreal away on Sunday night
  • Barcelona have also gone 11 points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid in their bid to reclaim the La Liga title this season

Pep Guardiola is referred to as one of Barcelona’s best managers in history, but Xavi is set to eclipse the Spaniard’s records with the Catalan giants this season.

La Blaugrana are now on a 16-game unbeaten run following their latest La Liga victory, as Pedri’s goal secured a slim 1-0 win against Villareal.

Xavi has now matched Guardiola's finest winning streak at Barcelona, with 11 consecutive victories in all competitions, Barca Universal reports.

The 43-year-old manager has also become the first manager in the history of the club to lose only one of his first 25 away matches in La Liga, with the only blight on his record being the 3-1 El Clasico loss to Real Madrid last October.

Xavi sends warning to Barcelona

Meanwhile, Xavi has warned his team that they must be at their best if they are to knock Man United out of the Europa League, Manchester Evening News reports.

The Red Devils return to action this week when they travel to face the La Liga giants in the opening leg of their play-off tie, with a spot in the knockout stage on the line.

Man United are in good form after a 2-0 win at Leeds on Sunday, while Barcelona warmed up for the match with a 1-0 win at Villarreal on the same day.

Xavi: Barca can win everything

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Xavi Hernandez believing Barcelona can win 'every title' this campaign.

The 43-year-old tactician has steered his side to the summit of La Liga after demolishing Sevilla in their last league outing.

His side are also still in the reckoning for the UEFA Europa League, after dropping down from the Champions League.
