"This team has the capacity to win every title we're competing for."

However, he was quick to note that his ambitions could only be met if words were put into action.

"But we can't only say it, we have to show it. Words mean nothing."

He has already secured his first title as Barcelona boss, beating fierce rivals, Real Madrid to annex the Spanish Super Cup, per Al Jazeera.

Xavi downplays Barca's league ambitions

Real Madid are the favourites to win the 2022-23 Spanish league, despite trailing Barcelona by a whopping eight points.

Los Blancos' title defence has not gone to plan so far, after suffering their third loss in La Liga this campaign.

The Catalan giants have taken full advantage of Madrid's inconsistency to tighten their grip on the league log.

Barca extend La Liga lead

Barcelona stretched their La Liga lead over Real Madrid to a substantial eight points, after a comfortable 3-0 win over Sevilla on Sunday.

Sports Brief reported on the Catalans aiming for their first Spanish title since 2019, by opening the gap on the table after Madrid lost out.

After a tight first half, Barca's Jordi Alba broke the deadlock before the hour mark, followed by goals each from Gavi and Raphinha.
