According to Sport Bible, the deal could however not be concluded after the Catalan giants missed the deadline by 18 seconds, due to an error with a computer.

Barcelona's sporting director, Mateu Alemany confirmed the club arrived late to submit the bid for Araujo by 18 seconds due to a computer error.

The La Liga giants had hoped to sign Araujo to replace Hector Bellerin who departed the Catalan club in deadline day to join Sporting Lisbon.

Barcelona hoping FIFA approve deal

Meanwhile, Barcelona have hopes of signing LA Galaxy fullback Julian Araujo as they are hoping FIFA will sanction the transfer of the defender despite missing the deadline for his bid, Tribal Football reports.

Bureaucratic issues with LA Galaxy and the MLS thwarted the deal before the market closed, and Barcelona is now waiting for FIFA to approve the transfer.

Araujo trained at the Barça Academy in Arizona and has dual nationality: American and Mexican. The defender joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2018.

Alemany unaware of Araujo transfer

Earlier, Sports Brief reported how many times do you see a club director not have an idea of a player coming into his team? Well, welcome to Barcelona.

The Catalan giants put in a late move to sign LA Galaxy defender, Julian Aruajo on transfer deadline day, and it seemed the club’s sporting director, Mateu Alemany was unaware of the deal.

Alemany was stopped by journalists while leaving Camp Nou on transfer deadline day and was asked about the progress of the deal.
