Gavi shines in Super Cup

Barcelona youngster Gavi was in spectacular form, as his side crushed archrivals Real Madrid 3-1 to clinch the Spanish Super Cup.

The 18-year-old scored and provided two assists, as the Catalan giants exacted revenge for their defeat against the same opposition last season.

Gavi drew first blood for La Blaugrana three minutes after the half-hour mark, Sports Brief has reported.

Xavi wins first Barcelona title

Sports Brief earlier reported that Xavi won his maiden trophy as manager of Barcelona, following his side's convincing win over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

The former midfielder, who took over the reins at the club in 2021, masterminded an emphatic 3-1 win against their El Clasico rival on Sunday evening.

The 42-year-old's first trophy was inspired by one of his young soldiers in the shape of Gavi, who was adjudged man-of-the-match for his excellent performance.
