More impressively, Barcelona have only conceded six goals so far this season, the least of any team in all of Europe’s top five leagues.

How other leaders compare

While many expect Real Madrid to put up a fight as the season goes on, Barcelona’s performance is impressive compared to other league leaders in Europe.

Arsenal lead the way in England but have conceded 14 goals already this season, Transfermarkt reported.

In France, Paris Saint-Germain top the table but have already conceded 13 goals.

In Germany, it’s Bayern Munich who are sitting pretty at the top, but they’ve conceded 13 goals as well, while Napoli are top in Italy and have conceded 13 goals too.

Barcelona’s main rivals in Spain, Madrid have conceded 16 goals already in their 16 games.

Who scored against Barcelona?

Transfermarkt also noted that only Real Sociedad (one), Osasuna (one), Espanyol (one) and Real Madrid (three) have managed to breach the Blaugrana defences this season.

Barcelona handed €800 000 fine

Barcelona’s financial troubles are proving costly, Sports Brief has also reported.

The Spanish side have found it difficult to not fall foul of La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in recent years.

The club have struggled to operate efficiently while staying profitable, and will now face further financial punishment for breaching the rules.
