Poland’s national team manager Czeslaw Michniewicz has officially unveiled his team that will hope to wrest the World Cup title in Qatar.

The Poland squad is packed with a few stars with the likes of Barcelona forward, Robert Lewandowski, and Juventus duo of Wojciech Szczesny and Arkadiusz Milik making the cut.

Coach Michniewicz has listed 26 players for the World Cup, which comprises three goalkeepers, nine defenders, ten midfielders and four strikers.

Poland, which only managed one victory in the 2018 World Cup, will be desperate to advance past the group stage at the 2022 World Cup for the first time since 1986, Goal reports.

The Poles are in Group C along with Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. Poland's fortunes will likely hinge on their opening encounter with the North American country.

Fans are also keen to see Lewandowski and Messi square off during their teams' clash.

Defenders: Robert Gumny (Augsburg), Jakub Kiwior (Spezia), Jan Bednarek (Aston Villa), Mateusz Wieteska (Clermont), Kamil Glik (Benevento), Bartosz Bereszynski (Sampdoria), Artur Jedrejczyk (Legia Warsaw), Matty Cash (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Grzegorz Krychowiak (Al-Shabab), Kamil Grosicki (Pogon), Szymon Zurkowski (Fiorentina), Michal Skoras (Lech Poznan), Jakub Kaminski (Wolfsburg), Sebastian Szymanski (Feyenoord), Piotr Zielinski (Napoli), Przemysław Frankowski (Lens), Krystian Bielik (Birmingham City), Damian Szymanski (AEK Athens).

Forwards: Arkadiusz Milik (Juventus), Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Karol Swiderski (Charlotte), Krzysztof Piatek (Salernitana).

Xhaka named in Switzerland’s squad

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Switzerland have announced their squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar and Arsenal star Granit Xhaka making the list.

Xhaka is expected to captain the Swiss national team in their campaign in Qatar, on the back of his impressive displays for the Gunners.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will kickoff next week, as France hope to defend the title they won in Russia four years ago.
