Barcelona veteran Gerard Pique was shown a straight red card in his final game during his side's 2-1 away victory over Osasuna on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old centre-back was an unused substitute in Pamplona as the BLaugrana secured their fifth successive win in Spanish La Liga.

The central defender received his marching orders after he confronted referee Jesus Gil Manzano on the pitch during half time before following the official the tunnel and continuing his protests.

According to Givemesports, Pique was livid by two crucial decisions taken by Manzano in the first at the El Sadar Stadium.

The first was the referee's decision to let Osasuna's goal stand in what looked like an infringement on Marcos Alonso in the build-up.

The former Spain international was also not happy a second yellow card was brandished in Robert Lewandowski‘s direction for a flying elbow into an Osasuna.

A video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, shows Pique was shown a straight red carded and prevented from featuring in what was supposed to be his last professional game in Barcelona colours.

The World Cup winner had countless chances to halt his behaviour towards the match official, but he kept taunting the experienced referee and pretty much left him with no other option.

Lewandowski receives red card

Sports Brief earlier reported that Robert Lewandowski was red carded during Barcelona's La Liga clash against Osasuna on Tuesday evening.

The Catalan giants traveled to Pamplona to face the Los Rojillos in their final La Liga game before the 2022 World Cup break.

Xavi Hernandez's men sat top of the La Liga table going into the game following Real Madrid‘s 3-2 loss at Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
