Robert Lewandowski continued his hot streak of finding the back of the net in Barcelona's most recent La Liga outing against Athletic Bilbao.

Lewandowski scored his 17th goal in 15 appearances for the Catalan giants to underline his blistering start to life in the Spanish top-flight.

After a darting run by Ousmane Dembele, the Frenchman teed Lewandowski, who swivelled before rifling an unstoppable drive into the top right corner to stretch Barcelona's lead in the game.

Lewandowski explains reason behind his iconic goal celebration

Lewandowski scored his 600th career goal when he collected Jordi Alba's cross and shot past Villareal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli in the 31st minute, to give Barcelona the lead.

The 34-year-old added his second of the night four minutes later after receiving another pass from Gavi, to extend the Catalans' advantage in front of their fans at Camp Nou.

In a chat with Bayern's YouTube channel back in 2019, Lewandowski explained the reason for his celebration in a chat as he revealed that it had something to do with his daughter.

What's next for Lewandowski?

The 34-year-old striker will hope to banish claims he disappears during big games when Barcelona cross swords with his former employers, Bayern Munich in a do-or-die encounter in the Champions League on Wednesday, October 26.

Lewandowski reaches new goalscoring hallmark

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Robert Lewandowski became only the third player since 2000 to pass the 600-goal career mark, after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Poland forward reached the milestone after netting a brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Villareal, as the Catalans secured their first win in three matches.
