  • Renowned artist Drake is said to have lost huge money after betting on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid in El Clasico
  • Drake has been blamed for several sports stars and teams losing their next game or fight after posing for a photograph with him, in what is dubbed the 'Drake curse'
  • Barcelona wore Drake's record label logo, 'OVO' on their jersey during El Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid

Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly lost £537,000 after betting on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid in Sunday's El Clasico.

Carlo Ancelotti's side claimed bragging rights in the first El Clasico of the season as they recorded a 3-1 win over the Catalan giants.

Goals from Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo were enough as Los Blancos claimed the top spot on the La Liga table. Ferran Torres grabbed a goal back for Barca, but ultimately it meant nothing.

He was in line to win £2.5million if his wager had come good, but Real Madrid picked up a 3-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Arsenal were able to survive the 'Drake Curse' however, as they narrowly defeated Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road.

In an Instagram post which has since been deleted, the artist had shared his bet slip on Saturday evening, showing off a stake of $833,333,85 (£745k) in Bitcoin using a betting app.

"This morning should be fun…" Drake captioned the upload.

Modric displays masterclass against Barcelona

Sports Brief earlier reported that mercurial Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric rolled back the hands of time to put on a virtuoso performance, as Los Blancos continued their unbeaten start to the season.

Modric put on a masterclass performance for the umpteenth time in a Real Madrid shirt, to inspire his side to a 3-1 victory over FC Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 16.

Goals from talisman and Ballon d'Or favourite Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde, and a last-gasp penalty from Rodrygo, rendered Ferran Torres' strike a consolation in the first instalment of El Clasico.
