An edited image of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele wearing dreadlocks has sparked mixed reactions on social media.

Dembele has been in blistering form this term - scoring twice and registering two assists in six games in the La Liga - continuing his impressive display from the closing stages of last season.

The Frenchman was spotted at Barcelona's training grounds following the end of the final international break before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In the photo posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, Dembele was spotted with a new hairstyle which has amazed eagle-eyed users.

An astonished social media user @Pheelleepz quizzed how the Barcelona star managed to grow his hair so fast:

"How did his hair grow that fast?"

@SadiqBalah, who was unconvinced about the image, asked other social media users to confirm whether indeed Dembele had dreads:

"Abeg tell me it’s photoshopped."

@Sammiwonda wrote:

"Looks good but we don't want."

Another user, @ldvscuban claimed Dembele will be rechristened if he became Rastafarian with his 'new hairstyle':
