Robert Lewandowski claims he is more likely to win the Ballon d'Or as a Barcelona player than when he was featuring for Bayern Munich.

The 34-year-old joined the Blaugrana this summer in a deal worth €45million with an extra €5million in add-ons following eight successful seasons with the German giants.

The Poland forward won 8 Bundesliga titles and one Champions League laurel, scoring an incredible 344 goals in 374 games.

But it's safe to say Lewandowski is continuing from where he left off, bagging an astonishing 11 goals in his first eight appearances for Barcelona.

Despite his stunning feat with the Bavarians, the Poland captain never clinched the French news magazine France Football's top individual award.

His closest to the Ballon d'Or podium came in 2020 when he netted goals 55 goals in 48 games that campaign, but he was beaten to the award by Lionel Messi.

Currently, with the Polish national team preparing for their Nations League clash against the Netherlands on Thursday, Lewandowski told the Polish media, cited by Barca Universal, that winning the Ballon d'Or was one of the reasons he switched to Barcelona.

"Winning the Ballon d'Or? I know that Barcelona is the team where the most players have won the Ballon d'Or. I think there is a shorter way to the Ballon d'Or from Barça than from Bayern."

According to Goal, six players from Barcelona have 12 Ballon d'Or awards. Their fiercest rivals Real Madrid can boast of seven players clinching the most prestigious individual football honour on 11 occasions.

According to Barca Universal, Lewandowski has now revealed Barcelona was the place he wanted to be after leaving Bayern Munich this summer.
