The 28-year-old was handed a rare start in LaLiga against Elche on Saturday and took his chance with a stunning goal to make it 2-0 after Robert Lewandowski’s opener.

It was the Dutchman's first goal of the season for the Catalans, having played 131 minutes in three games.

The ex-Manchester United forward received the ball from Alejandro Balde in the opposition box, and bullied Elche defender with a brilliant display of strength and clever footwork, before firing the ball into the roof of the net.

Depay's strike really was a thing of absolute beauty and it's not the first time the forward has pulled off that skill to score.

He scored a similar goal during Barcelona's 6-0 thrashing of Inter Miami during a pre-season at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida in July.

Depay received a pass in n the opposition box with his back to the goal and he spun around leaving the Inter Miami defender stunned. He then followed it up with an excellent finish.

What Depay said about his goal

After the game against Elche, Depay disclosed that he learned to do moves like that when playing in the streets,

He said, cited by Barca Universal: "When I was a child I played in the streets a lot. In tight spaces, you need to use some smart things. I have some skills in my pocket, and that was one of them."
