  • Spain manager Luis Enrique says Ansu Fati is not yet ready to be called up to the national team after he dropped the Barcelona youngster
  • Fati was excluded from Spain’s 25-man list announced on Friday ahead of Nations League fixtures against Switzerland and Portugal
  • Ansu Fati has only played one game as a starter so far this season, despite having delivered with two goals and two assists

Ansu will not be part of Spain’s squad to tackle Switzerland and Portugal in the Nations League after the Barcelona star was dropped by Luis Enrique in his 25-man list.

The 19-year-old forward has scored two goals and created two assists for Barcelona so far this season but his performances for Barcelona were not enough to earn him a place in the Spain squad.

According to SB Nation, Spain’s manager, Luis Enrique has now blamed Fati’s lack of starting games for the Catalan giants as the reason for dropping the teenager.

“The truth is he was much better, now he has been participating but at his club he has only started one game and that tells me something.
“He continues to have a wonderful relationship with the goal, I hope he recovers his level and we see the best Ansu, but today I do not see him ready for the squad and that is why I have not brought him.”

Enrique has however not ruled out Fati’s chances of making Spain’s 2022 World Cup squad which starts in November if he raises his level before the Mundial.

Luis Enrique delighted to see Sergio Ramos playing again

Meanwhile, Spain manager, Luis Enrique is happy to see Paris Saint-Germain gradually return to his best this season despite dropping the veteran defender from La Roja’s squad, Marca reports.

Enrique reveals the former Real Madrid defender still remains one of the best defenders in the world but is currently not as good as the players in Spain’s 25-man team.

Sergio Ramos had not been playing football regularly since last season due to injury, but this season he has been returning to his best level, little by little.

Luis Enrique explains Nico Williams selection
