  • Martin Braithwaite boldly claims that Ousmane Dembele makes more of a difference to Barcelona than Robert Lewandowski
  • Dembele is in a rich vein of form this season, stealing the show for Barcelona with two goals and four assists to his name
  • Braithwaite and Barcelona agreed to mutually end their relationship earlier this month with the Danish striker joining Espanyol on a free transfer

Former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite has said that although Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski scores a lot of goals, Ousmane Dembele makes a lot more difference than the Poland talisman.

Braithwaite was speaking on Spanish radio following Barcelona's 5-1 win over Victoria Plzen in their Champions League opener. In the match, Lewandowski bagged a hat-trick while Dembele provided two assists.

Braithwaite is in awe of Dembele's talent and value to Barcelona

In the interview on Daily Mail, the Espanyol star heaped praise on the Frenchman saying he possesses lots of talent.

Ousmane is a very good kid, I like him a lot. He has an enormous talent; I have never seen anything like it. Messi is something else, but I have never seen anyone like Ousmane.

Braithwaite played with Dembele at Barcelona last season but left the Catalan club for their city rivals Espanyol after months of a standoff between him and the club.

Barcelona and Braithwaite agreed to mutually terminate their association early this month with the Danish striker opting to join Espanyol on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has excelled under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez since he took over last season. Moreover, he's started brilliantly this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists in six games.

Barca coach Xavi Hernandez also lauded the winger comparing him with Neymar, saying Dembele's one-on-one ability puts him on par with the Brazilian.

Lewandowski's strong start in his Barcelona Career

Despite his comments, the Polish striker is also enjoying his first season at Camp Nou. He's already on nine goals this season, a promising sign that even at age 34, he isn't slowing down.

Sports Brief earlier reported on Barcelona's emphatic 4-0 win over Cadiz in La Liga this past weekend, a game where Lewandowski and Dembele scored.
