The Polish striker struck three times for Barcelona as they completed a 5-1 rout of FC Viktoria Plzeň in the UEFA Champions League.

Lewandowski’s hattrick also took him above Karim Benzema in the Champions League all-time scorers chart.

The Frenchman has 86 goals, while Lewandowski now has 89. Lewa scored 17 goals with Borussia Dortmund, 69 with Bayern Munich and 3 with Barcelona.

The tally makes him the third highest scorer of all time in the competition’s history. Cristiano Ronaldo still leads the way with 141 goals, followed by Lionel Messi, who has 125 goals in the competition.

The hattrick also marked the sixth time the Polish striker scored three goals in a Champions League game.

Lewandowski’s goals contributed to a 5-1 rout for Barcelona against the Czech champions in their tournament's opening game. Franck Kessie and Ferran Torres also chipped in with goals as Barcelona got their campaign off to winning ways.
