Andres Iniesta could be nearing a sensational return to Spain and FC Barcelona.

The club legend is currently playing for Vissel Kobe in the J-League in Japan but has been struggling with constant injuries of late.

With Vissel Kobe dangerously close to the relegation zone, fans have grown tired of the 38-year-old midfielder. Iniesta still has another two years left on his contract with the side.

As reported by SportsKeeda, Barcelona are looking at bringing back the midfielder to Spain in a coaching role.

Barca are considering offering Iniesta the chance to coach the youth team and also assist with other tasks at the club. Xavi, who played alongside Iniesta during Barca's glory days, is the current first-team coach.

Iniesta’s legendary career at Barcelona

Iniesta was promoted to Barcelona’s first team from the B side in 2002 and enjoyed 16 trophy-laden seasons with the club. Iniesta played 674 times for Barcelona, scoring 57 goals and notching up 138 assists for the Catalan giants.

Iniesta’s time in Japan

In 2018 Iniesta signed for Vissel Kobe in Japan. During his time there, he won the Japanese Cup and the Japanese Super Cup. He has played 126 games for the Japanese side, scoring 26 goals and providing 25 assists.
