Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o has paid tribute to Real Mallorca for the player he became during a trophy-laden career.

The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation enjoyed a successful football career, playing for some of the best clubs in the world including Barcelona and Inter Milan.

However, in an interview on Tv3, Eto'o disclosed that the best team he played for was Real Mallorca.

"Real Mallorca," he answered when asked which was his favourite club during his playing career.

Eto'o then explained why he chose Mallorca, insisting they gave him the platform to showcase his talent and that was where he won his first trophy.

"Because I won my first trophy at Mallorca. They gave me everything," he added.

Samuel Eto'o first arrived in Spain to join Real Madrid before joining Mallorca, where he won the 2002/03 Copa Del Rey.

He shot to prominence when he joined Barcelona, winning the La Liga and two UEFA Champions League titles.

The Cameroonian made history when he won an unprecedented treble with Inter Milan in 2010. He remains the only player to win back-to-back treble with different clubs.

Samuel Eto'o is currently president of the Cameroonian Football Federation and also works at the Qatar Legacy Ambassador for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Samuel Eto'o has revealed his greatest admiration for legendary Ghanaian footballer Abedi Pele.

The former Barcelona forward, who is in Accra for ambassadorial works, disclosed that Abedi Pele is his favourite player from Ghana.

The former Cameroon striker admits he likes a lot of African players but Abedi Pele tops his list of Ghanaian footballers.
