Lionel Messi is more popular than Cristiano Ronaldo in the Bundesliga as the Argentine icon is considered the World’s Best player by footballers in the German topflight.

A total of 270 players in the Bundesliga were asked a range of football-related questions in the 2019/2020 season, with many picking the Argentine as their best player.

According to Sports Bible, Messi got a total of 54.8% of the votes cast, beating rival Cristiano Ronaldo to second place with 12.6% in a survey conducted by German publication Kicker.

Former Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski finished third in the poll with 10.7%, while Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk had 4.4%, and PSG forward Kylian Mbappe completed the top 5 with 4.4% of the total votes cast.

Lionel Messi has won the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards on 7 occasions, two more than any other player, with Cristiano Ronaldo following closely behind with 5 awards.
