  • Barcelona will be able to register all of their players, including their five summer signings if they sign a fourth economic lever
  • The Catalan giants are also banking on Gerard Pique to take a massive paycut to help the club generate more funds
  • Barcelona have activated three economic levers so far, with the third seeing them sell 25 percent of Barca Studios

Barcelona’s bid to register their new summer signings has received a significant boost as the club has decided to activate a 4th lever to generate more money.

The Catalan giants have seen their previous request to register all new players rejected as they failed to meet La Liga’s financial requirements due to the club’s financial struggles.

Veteran defender, Gerard Pique is also expected to reduce his salary drastically after accepting a lower wage to help the club register its new players.

Barcelona added Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde to their squad this summer despite their growing financial issues.

De Jong and Ter Stegen set to leave Barcelona as free agents

Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are expected to leave Barcelona as free agents after the termination of their contracts by the La Liga club due to allegations of criminal behavior.

Barcelona are threatening legal actions against both players and the former board after they found criminal activities in their contract extensions with the club in 2020 Forbes reports.

For Ter Stegen and De Jong, though, resorting back to their original arrangements would remarkably see them become free agents in June 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Pique agrees to take paycut to help Barcelona register new players

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Gerard Pique has decided to take some huge personal costs to help Barcelona register its new players following the Catalans financial crisis.

Barcelona has brought in Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Frank Kessie, and Andreas Christensen while they also renewed the contract of Ousmane Dembele.

The Spanish giants have however failed to register any of these players for the upcoming season after failing to meet La Liga’s regulations due to their financial troubles.
