Frenkie de Jong has some of his Barcelona teammates rooting for him to remain with the Catalan giants for the 2022/23 football season despite the club wanting to sell him off.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old almost all summer with reports suggesting they have reached an agreement for the sale of the Dutch midfielder.

According to Football Espana, Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has hailed the qualities of De Jong and believes the midfielder will not be sold this summer.

“Obviously, we always want the best in the team. He is that footballer with lots of quality and we want him to stay, but I don’t get involved, it is up to the club.”

Barcelona are open to Frenkie de Jong staying with the Catalan giants but club president, Juan Laprota has insisted the Dutch midfielder will have to take a pay cut for that to happen.
