  • Jerseys of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde have been spotted for sale on Barcelona's official website, briefly
  • This could be a sign that the Catalan giants are set to add the Frenchman to their squad next season
  • Chelsea had already agreed on a transfer for the player’s services but it appears Barcelona have hijacked the deal

Spanish giants FC Barcelona are on the verge of announcing French defender Jules Kounde as their new player.

Kounde has expressed his desire in joining the Catalan club next season despite Chelsea already agreeing on a deal with Sevilla.

In a video posted on Twitter, as sighted by Sports Brief, a shirt with Kounde's name on it became briefly available in Barcelona's online store.

A Barcelona jersey marked with Kounde's name on the back could be a sign that the club's official website has already added the 23-year-old to their database.

This means that the versatile defender would join the Camp Nou outfit soon.

Barcelona Sells TV Rights Worth €320million

Meanwhile, Barcelona will have no course to worry about registering the club’s summer signings after selling a further 15 percent of the club’s TV rights to investors Sixth Street.

The Catalan giants have been in a deep financial crisis and are now expected to raise around €320 million for the deal which will ease their financial burden temporarily.

According to ESPN, the sale will enable Barcelona to register summer signings Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski for the 2022/23 La Liga season.

Jules Koundé Dropped From Sevilla’s Training Camp

Sports Brief earlier reported that Sevilla are heading to Portugal for a pre-season camp but have omitted Koundé from the 31-man squad travelling to the camp, BarcaUniversal reported.

The 23-year-old defender had been linked with moves to Chelsea and Barcelona, but neither has the edge on the other.

Chelsea have agreed on a deal with Sevilla for the player’s services, while Barca have agreed on personal terms with the player himself.
