Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié partook in his first training session as a Barcelona player as the team gears up for the 2022-23 season.

Kessié was officially unveiled as a player of the Catalan giants on Wednesday, July 6 after he penned a four-year deal with the Blaugrana.

He was part of Stefano Pioli's charges that ended AC Milan's 11-year Serie A drought last season but could not reach an agreement with the Rosonerri chiefs after his previous deal expired this summer.

The workaholic midfielder is expected to form a key component of Xavi Hernandez's side as the Catalan seeks to wrestle their way to the summit of European football.

In a video shared on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Kessié was part of a number of first-team Barcelona players who stepped onto the Tito Vilanova pitch to train with his new teammates for the first time since inking a deal with the Catalans.

Franck Kessié aims to walk in the footsteps of Yaya Toure at Barcelona

New Barcelona signing Franck Kessie has set his targets early on at his new club. The midfielder was officially unveiled by Barcelona's President Joan Laporta.

Kessié quipped that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Yaya Toure, a Barcelona legend. Toure also comes from Ivory Coast, the same country that Kessie represents internationally.

Football Espana reports that Kessié mentioned outrightly that he adored Toure, who has since retired.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that some past comments that Barcelona's new signing Franck Kessie made will definitely excite his new fan base.

Kessie completed a move to Barcelona after failing to agree to a new deal with AC Milan. He has penned a four-year contract in Spain and will be unveiled officially on Wednesday, July 6th.

He is expected to play a key part in Xavi Hernandez's revolution and rebuild at Barcelona. Football Espana reports that the Ivory Coast international once said that he is not afraid of running and putting in the work on the pitch.
