- Barcelona is having challenges registering their new signings because of a wage cap
- The Catalan club recently acquired Franck Kessie and Andres Christiansen on free transfers from AC Milan and Chelsea respectively
- But reports claim their wage bill is still higher than La Liga’s sanctioned cap
Barcelona have been hit with a fresh challenge as the club reportedly cannot register their new signings Franck Kessie and Andres Christiansen.
Over the last few years, it has been no secret that the Catalan club has been struggling financially, to the point they had to release the most iconic player in their history, Lionel Messi.
Barca’s urgent need to free up the club’s wage bill will likely see them part ways with some key players, with Frenkie De Jong being courted by Manchester United.
Regardless, the club is still determined to remain competitive, hence some big name additions to the squad, including Kessie and Christiansen.

Recently, Barcelona sold part of their TV rights to an outside company, a move which helped them with a £200 million cash boost.
Those funds, however, cannot be used to acquire new players, and the club will have to use the funds to balance the books from last season.
Despite their financial plight, the 2015 Champions League winners still managed to secure the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore (on loan) in January.
At the moment, the club is fairly stable, having released Dani Alves and Phillipe Coutinho, while Ousmanne Dembele’s contract with the club has officially run down.

Tagliafico recently expressed his desire to leave Ajax, four years after signing for the Dutch giants
