Barcelona are determined to hold on to young starlet, Gavi and has offered the Spanish midfielder a new 5-year deal at the Camp Nou.

Gavi is regarded as one of the best young players in the world and has been monitored by several top clubs in Europe since his debut in 2021 for Barcelona.

According to a report via The Sun, the proposed new deal by Barcelona to the 17-year-old midfielder whose present deal runs out in 2023 will boast of a mouth-watering €1billion release clause.

This news comes as a big blow to Manchester United who are believed to be one of the top European clubs that had an interest in signing the Spanish midfielder.

The Red Devils are trying to rebuild their playing squad under new manager, Erik ten Hag, following the summer exits of top stars including Pogba, Matic, and Mata.

PSG pull out of the race to sign Dembele

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele’s future has still not been sorted following the winger’s Barcelona contract expiration this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain, who initially had indicated an interest in signing the French winger, has now closed the doors on signing him in the summer Barca Universal reports.

The incoming director of PSG, Luis Campos, does not wish to sign Dembele and instead wants to use the funds to strengthen the squad in midfield.

The teenage sensation has shown what he is capable of doing and Liverpool are looking to take advantage of Barcelona’s current situation to snap up the teenager.

Many have linked Gavi’s style of play with that of the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta as he so far made 13 appearances in La Liga and 19 overall.
