  • Suarez wants to seal a dramatic return to Camp Nou and is ready to take a massive pay cut to make that happen
  • The striker left Barcelona two seasons ago after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements by former head coach Ronald Koeman
  • He enjoyed a very stellar campaign during his time at Barcelona and could be a key player for his former teammate Xavi Hernandez who is now the manager

Luis Suarez wants to rejoin Barcelona two seasons after leaving. Suarez is understood to be ready to take a pay cut and refuse any attempts by Atletico Madrid to extend his contract, which expires in the summer.

The striker fell out with former Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman. Koeman insisted that the forward was not part of his plans and should leave the club.

The Uruguayan enjoyed massive success with the Catalans since joining them from Liverpool. He formed part of the MSN attacking trident that terrorised defenders in Europe.

He crossed over to Atletico Madrid, where he guided them to the La Liga trophy. This season hasn't been successful as such, and now, he is eyeing a return back to Camp Nou.

The Daily Mail reports that Barcelona are still going through a financial crisis, and the wage structure is still a big problem. Suarez is ready to meet the club halfway and seal the dramatic return.

Barcelona are in need of a new striker

Xavi Hernandez won't mind working with Suarez, having played alongside him before retiring. Xavi is also on the hunt for a new striker, and a deal for Suarez might interest him.

The Blaugrana have asked about the availability of Robert Lewandowski. The Bayern Munich hitman has stated that he wishes to go to another club before retiring.

Barcelona are setting themselves up for a summer overhaul as they aim to challenge for trophies on multiple fronts next season. Martin Braithwaite and Luuk De Jong are expected to pave the way for new additions. De Jong should return to Sevilla after the end of his loan.

Xavi maintains Barcelona cant compete for Haaland

Teenage striker Erling Haaland had also emerged as a potential target for Barcelona, but his typical wage demands pushed them out of contention.

Sports Brief reported that Xavi Hernandez admitted that they could not compete with other clubs' financial power to sign the highly-rated striker.

Haaland has since agreed on a deal with Manchester City after the English Champions activated his release clause.
