Fresh from their recent Europa League heartbreak, Barca were unable to bounce back to winning ways during their meeting with Cadiz at the Camp Nou as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Barcelona exit from the Europa League

Xavi's men were eliminated from the second-tier European competition on Thursday, April 14, by Eintracht Frankfurt after a 3-4 goal aggregate loss.

The La Liga side settled for a 1-1 draw during the first leg of the quarter-final clash played in Germany and needed a win of whichever scoreline at home during the second leg to progress to the semis.

However, they were humbled 3-2 in front of their own fans as their Bundesliga opponents progressed to the next round of the tournament at their expense.

Barcelona fail to redeem themselves vs Cadiz

Barca's hopes to redeem themselves from the Europa League embarrassment floped on Monday as they recorded another defeat at home against Cadiz at the Camp Nou.

The Yellow Marines who are battling relegation initially held the hosts to a 0-0 draw at the break before they finally broke the deadlock in the 48th minute by Lucas Perez.

Efforts by the home side to score at least a consolation proved futile as the visitors held firm to claim maximum points.

The result leaves Cadiz sitting 16th on the log with 31 points, while Barca remain second with 60 points after 31 rounds of matches.
