  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has urged Barcelona must do their utmost best to prevent Ousmane Dembele from leaving the Nou Camp next summer
  • The Frenchman is at loggerheads with the Barcelona board after failing to agree to a new deal with his present contract set to expire at the end of the season
  • Ousmane Dembele has been reborn in 2022 for Barcelona and was instrumental as the Blaugrana fought back to earn a 3-2 win over Levante on Sunday, April 10

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not ready to have a new striker partner upfront for Barcelona next season as the Gabonese have pleaded for a new contract to be awarded to Ousmane Dembele.

Aubameyang and Dembele had played together in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and have once again formed a formidable partnership in Barcelona after both players reunited in January.

Dembele, back in December 2021, looked sure of leaving the Blaugrana after failing to agree to a new deal with the Catalan giants with his present deal set to expire in the summer.

According to a report via Goal, the Gabon captain has now beckoned on Barcelona not to let the 24-year-old winger leave the Nou Camp rather they should offer him a new deal.

"Ousmane knows me well, I have to always be prepared when he goes to the right.
"It's normal for people to be aware of me. I can do much more. In the first half, I didn't play well. We have to show a little more intensity.
"I think today we lowered the intensity, especially in the first half. We improved in the second half. But Dembele has to stay!"

Dembele equals Messi’s record

Ousmane Dembele was in inspirational form as Barcelona came from 2-1 down to earn a 3-2 victory over Levante in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday, April 10.

Dembele created Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s equalizer to make it 1-1 and the 24-year-old has now created nine assists for Barcelona since the start of January.

The Frenchman has now equalled Lionel Messi’s record as the two players with the most assists in Europe’s top 5 leagues since the start of 2022.

Aubameyang reveals conversation that convinced Dembélé to stay

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng has revealed that he had to convince teammate Ousmane Dembélé to stay prior to his move to Spain.

Dembélé was reportedly on the verge of leaving Barcelona after he was asked to take a pay cut due to Barcelona's financial troubles.

However, Aubamayeng who played with Dembélé at Borussia Dortmund persuaded the Frenchman to stay.
