  • Burnley continued their relentless march towards automatic promotion from the Championship into the Premier League
  • The Clarets hammered Norwich City 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road
  • Lyle Foster made his league debut for his new club following his FA Cup one a few days ago

It is only a matter of time before Burnley is crowned as the 2022/23 Championship title winners. And it appears Bafana Bafana star Lyle Foster has arrived at the right time as the club heads back to the Premier League

The Clarets were simply too good away to Norwich City, emerging with all three points after a 3-0 victory at Carrow Road. Anass Zaroury opened the scoring after Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul passed the ball from a goal kick straight to him on the edge of the box, sending it back past him with an accurate effort into the bottom right corner.

Having been on the pitch for less than 30 seconds, Vitinho has scored Burnley's second in the 55th minute after glancing home Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson's in-swinging corner! Gudmundsson's set pieces continued to be problematic, setting up Hjalmar Ekdal after Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen flicked it on.

Having made his cup debut in the FA Cup, Foster then made his debut for the Clarets in the 73rd minute after being substituted on for the impressive Gudmundsson.

Foster speaks after joining Burnley

Burnley has excitedly shown off their newest and very much talked-about striker, Lyle Foster.

The Bafana Bafana player completed a record move this week, joining the ambitious Championship leaders from Belgian club, KVC Westerlo.

The Clarets sat down the highly-rated Bafana Bafana striker for an interview.

Kompany played against Foster, once

Amazingly, Lyle Foster and Vincent Kompany have played against each other before.

The impressive Burnley coach and his new striking acquisition crossed paths during the 2019/20 season in the Belgian Pro League. Foster was playing for Cercle Brugge while on loan from Ligue 1 team Monaco, while the Manchester City legend was winding his career down at Belgium's giants Anderlecht R.S.C.

Prince Sobayeni, who dedicates his time to monitoring the fortunes of South African footballers overseas, was the one to point out this fun fact.
