Lyle Foster Signed in Permanent Deal by Westerlo After Impressing for Belgian 2nd Division Champions

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster's loan stay in Belgium has become a permanent one.

The 21-year-old former Orlando Pirates striker completed a permanent switch from Portugal side Vitória Sport Clube Futebol to Belgian Second Division champions KVC Westerlo. He contributed five goals and four assists as he helped fire the club into the Jupiler League next season.

According to Kick Off, the Portuguese outfit confirmed the deal on Tuesday, and would receive a transfer of about R17 million, also receiving a percentage of any future sell-on fee.

The statement read:

"Vitória Sport Clube Futebol, SAD informs that it has reached an agreement with KVC Westerlo, from Belgium, for the transfer of the player Lyle Foster, for the amount of €1 000 000 with Vitória keeping 15% of the surplus-value of a future sale."

The 21-year-old previously made seven senior appearances for the first team during his time with Vitória, which in turn followed a loan spell with Cercle Brugge and a short stint with Ligue 1 giants, AS Monaco.

Sports Brief reported recently that promising Stellenbosch FC player Antonio van Wyk had earned himself trials with Westerlo, and should things work out, will add more South African flavour to the club.

Their outstanding form this season in the Premier Soccer League Reserve League has resulted in the Maroons becoming surprise log leaders with Orlando Pirates hot on their heels.
