Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman will seemingly wind down his football career in the backwaters of English football.

The 35-year-old Furman was signed by Northern Premier League team Warrington Rylands Football Club, located in the city of Warrington. He joined the team after departing from Altrincham Football Club of the National League, the fifth tier of English football.

The announcement was made on Rylands' Twitter page as part of the revelation of three new signings, with the tweet reading:

"Last but certainly by no means least, welcome to @RylandsFC Dean Furman! Dean possesses excellent technical ability, leadership and experience at the very highest level, boasting 58 international caps for South Africa! Welcome to Rylands @de4no22."

According to News & Star, Altrincham wished Furman well in his future endeavours in statement, saying:

"A highly-respected and popular figure on and off the pitch, everyone at the club would like to thank him for his contribution in Alty colours and wish him all the very best for the future."

Furman has bounced around in the more recognised lower leagues in that country in addition to his time at SuperSport United in South Africa and the 58 caps he earned with Bafana. KickOff reported that he represented the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Bradford City, before joining Carlisle United in 2020.

In transfer news closer to home, Kaizer Chiefs are not giving up in their pursuit to sign Siyethemba Sithebe from Amazulu before the transfer window closes at midnight.

As was reported on Sports Brief, Amazulu and Kaizer Chiefs met over the weekend to try and come to an agreement for the services of the player, with talks said to have reached an advanced stage.
