Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are set to put their differences aside, as it appears both La Liga clubs have reached an amicable solution on the Antoine Griezmann transfer.

The Catalan giants had inserted a mandatory permanent purchase clause of €40million after allowing the French forward rejoin Atletico Madrid on a 2-year loan.

According to Barca Universal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will shake hands on a deal worth €20 million, with the €40 million obligatory clause no longer in place.

Diego Simeone's team has reportedly been seeking to take advantage of a stipulation in the contract that would release them from their duty, by playing Griezmann for 30 minutes or less since they are unwilling to pay the initial sum.

Griezmann will agree to another wage cut to extend his stay at Civitas Metropolitano, along with a €2million bonus payment, as part of the agreement.

Griezmann blows penalty in Atletico Madrid defeat

Meanwhile, Antoine Griezmann was the villain for Atletico Madrid in their 2-0 defeat to Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Antoine Griezmann, given a rare start, missed a second-half penalty for Atletico, who are level with Porto and Bayer Leverkusen on three points each, SuperSport reports.

Club Brugge have now won their three opening games without conceding a goal and dominated Diego Simeone's side for much of the game.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in talks to reduce the price of Griezmann

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have finally decided to find an amicable solution to Antoine Griezmann’s predicament this season.

Griezmann, who is on a two-year loan from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid, has only made substitute appearances this season for a total of less than 30 minutes each time.

Atletico Madrid will be forced to pay Barcelona €40m to purchase Griezmann on a permanent basis if the Frenchman plays 50% of games for Diego Simeone’s men.
