Serie A Star Jailed For 14-month For Carrying a Gun to Give Fan Inside Stadium at Derby Match

Former Atletico Madrid youngster Nicolás Schiappacasse was in January this year arrested and sent to prison in a 14-month sentence after being found guilty in weapons possession.

During his time at Atletico Madrid, Nicolás Schiappacasse never played for the first team, but featured in 22 games for the second team netting three goals.

According to the report on Daily Star, Nicolás Schiappacasse was on 26 January stopped by police and arrested after a gun was spotted on his lap.

The police who stopped him in his country Uruguay were said to be surprised and asked the footballer what he was doing with a gun inside the car.

And what was his response to the police?

The report added that Nicolás Schiappacasse told investigators he was taking the weapon to a fan of Uruguayan top-flight side Penarol ahead of a derby match against arch-rivals Nacional.

However, the 23-year-old will be allowed to serve six months of his prison sentence at his parents’ home in the plea bargain.

Nicolas still has one more year left on his contract at Serie A side Sassuolo and has been given permission to train and play with nearby Uruguayan 3rd division side El Tanque Sisley.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how after the world football governing body (FIFA) failed in its bid to convince the football community of a two-year World Cup plan, reports have it that a three-year tournament is now being considered.

SunSport reports that FIFA president Gianni Infantino has started up an alternative with the hope that the World Cup can be held every three years.

Inside source claims that the Infantino is, however, aware of the backlash that would come with the idea.

FIFA insiders were pointing to that line as the next battleground with Infantino aware of the backlash.

Reports have it that Infantino wants the football fiesta to hold as part of a 36-month tournament cycle.

Under the new Infantino blueprint, year one would see his expanded, 24-team, Club World Cup.
