  • Luis Suarez has finally spoken about his famous handball against Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa 2010
  • The Atletico Madrid star stopped Ghana from reaching the semi-final of the tournament twelve years ago with his goal-bound save
  • The Black Stars will have been drawn against the former World Champions in Group H of the World Cup in Qatar

Uruguay forward, Luis Suarez is claiming the popular 'hand of God' from Argentina legend Diego Maradona after his 2010 goal-bound save against Ghana.

The former Barcelona star stopped Ghana from reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup after using his hand to save Dominic Adiyiah's header in the 120th minute.

Suarez was shown the red card and Ghana were awarded a penalty, which was missed by Asamoah Gyan, but years on the striker claims his save was the real 'hand of God.'

“The Hand of God now belongs to me,” Suarez said as quoted Ghanasoccernet. “Mine is the real Hand Of God.
“I made the best save of the tournament. Sometimes in training I play as a goalkeeper so it was worth it. There was no alternative but for me to do that and when they missed the penalty I thought ‘It is a miracle and we are alive in the tournament’."

The Black Stars lost 4-2 on penalties to the South Americans, failing to become the first African country to reach the semis of the global showpiece.

The two teams will renew their rivalry at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, after the Black Stars were drawn against Uruguay, alongside Portugal and South Korea.

The Black Stars will open their campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a blockbuster clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

Ghana are appearing at the World Cup for the fourth time after missing the 2018 edition in Russia.
