  • Deputy Ghana captain Thomas Partey has been spotted trying to convince Arsenal teammate Eddie Nketiah to switch nationality
  • Eddie Nketiah is born to Ghanaian parents in London but has represented the Three Lions at youth level
  • He is yet to make a senior appearance for England making him eligible to represent the Black Stars of Ghana

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey is trying to convince Arsenal teammate Edddie Nketiah to switch nationality and play for Ghana.

Eddie Nketiah, who netted a hat-trick in Arsenal's thrashing of Sunderland in the EFL Cup, is eligible to play for the Black Stars through his family ties.

In a video spotted on Twitter, Partey is seen telling Nketiah, it is time to play for Ghana despite representing his country of birth at youth levels.

Nketiah was in top form for the Gunners in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, scoring three of Arsenal's five goals in the 5-1 victory.

Although he is yet to break into the first team of Arsenal, he remains manager Mikel Arteta's favourite boy, having recalled him from loan a season ago.

The 22-year-old has now netted five goals in three EFL Cup matches and he is yet to score in the Premier League after three games.

His season has been affected by an injury he sustained at the start of the campaign.

While he has represented England at the youth levels, he is eligible to play for Ghana, his parents country.

It looks like the youngster path to the senior team of England will take some time, but a position might be available for him in Ghana.

Eddie Nketiah nets hat-trick against Sunderland

Earlier, Sportsbrief.com reported that, Premier League giants Arsenal have progressed to the semifinals of this season's EFL Cup after beating visiting Sunderland 5-1 at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday night, December 21.

Arsenal players without Aubameyang showed their incredible stuff against their opponents as Eddie Nketiah was the man of the match netting three goals.

The visitors started this encounter well at the Emirates stadium and there were expectations for them to find the back of the net in the first six minutes of the game.
