Unai Emery believes Arsenal must learn from defensive mistakes made against Watford to get their campaign back on track.

Arsenal surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against the Hornets at Vicarage Road to drop out of the top four in the Premier League standings.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed the visitors the lead in the 21st minute, before doubling the advantage in the 32nd minute.

A defensive blunder from Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the opening minutes of the second half saw Gerard Deulofeu intercept the ball to set up Tom Cleverley, who pulled one back for the hosts.

Roberto Pereyra completed the sensational comeback nine minutes from time, converting from the penalty spot after being fouled by David Luiz in the dangerous area.

“We conceded some mistakes which were very dangerous for us. The first goal is like that, but we need to learn and correct that," Emery said while reacting to the defensive howlers.

“The result is disappointing for us, because after 2-0, we had chances in the second-half to win, but we can only work on our mistakes today for the next matches," he submitted.

The frustrating results saw the north London side drop to seventh on the standings with eight points from five matches.

They will be seeking to make amends when they host Aston Villa at the Emirates in their next Premier League match scheduled for Sunday, September 22.
