  • Chelsea sold Italian midfielder Jorginho to Arsenal for £12m in the January transfer window
  • The experienced midfielder spent four-and-half-years at Stamford Bridge before switching sides inside London
  • He scored the winner for the Gunners against Aston Villa and social media erupted

2021 UEFA player of the year Jorginho switched from the blue side of London to the red side when he made a deadline day move to Arsenal from Chelsea for £12m.

The move got mixed reactions from Chelsea fans, with some claiming the experienced midfielder would boost Arsenal's title chances, while others believe the fee for his age and remaining months on contract is good business.

His first three games coincided with a winless run for the club but on his fourth game, he scored late on to help Arsenal seal victory over Aston Villa, before Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli added the fourth.

That thing Jorginho did, that’s what big players do. You can’t do it if you aren’t big. That was why we stole him from a club that felt they’d be better off shopping for new players even when they don’t know how to use them.

Experience is key in these situations, sadly no one in that Arsenal team except Jorginho has that experience winning at the highest levels and pressure.

The midfield commented on the match, saying that's why the Premier League is the best in the world, as quoted by BT Sport.

Guardiola plays mind game with Arsenal

Sports Brief earlier reported Pep Guardiola played mind games with Arsenal with his statements during his press conference ahead of Manchester City's game against Nottingham Forest.

City beat Arsenal midweek to go joint top of the Premier League table but Pep claimed nothing has changed and the Gunners are still favourites for the title.

Arsenal's victory over Aston Villa managed by their former boss Unai Emery further cements their status as title favourites.
