  • A Gunners star has now opened up on what changed in the team this season that is pushing them to success

Arsenal are the Premier League leaders and have also qualified for the UEFA Europa League quarter-final this season, and have been one of the most outstanding teams, not only in England but across Europe's top five leagues.

They narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last year and have reinforced their squad most notably with the addition of Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandar Zinchenko, both of whom have made instant impact at the club.

A Gunners defender is now revealing the secret behind the club's success, pinning it on the cohesion in the squad brought about by spending longer time with the manager, Mikel Arteta.

“We understand more [about] Mikel’s football. We’ve got depth, we’ve got some new players, but the biggest thing is we understand Mikel’s football more than last season,” he said.

The Japanese defender hailed Mikel Arteta's football knowledge and acknowledged him as the best manager he has ever played under.

“Mikel knows about football, he knows about football structure, [he knows] everything. Our job is to just explain on the pitch what he says. I believe him. He’s just amazing. He’s the best manager I’ve ever played with,” he added.

He is behind Ben White, whom he hailed as the best in the world at the right back position, as noted by Football London. He is also sometimes deployed as a left back.
