A large section of Arsenal fans was discontent with the Jorginho signing after a sensational deadline day move to North London.

The Gunners’ first choice was Moises Caicedo, but Brighton and Hove Albion have proven too stubborn and have resisted two bids from Mikel Arteta for the midfield Maestro.

Jorginho’s transfer seems to have been fairly straightforward, as the two clubs have reportedly agreed on an 18 month-deal worth £12million.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Mikel Arteta was a major factor in Jorginho’s decision to move to the Emirates.

From a business standpoint, it makes sense for Chelsea to dispose of off Jorginho for a fee, as the Italian had six months left on his Chelsea contract.

But this did not stop Arsenal fans from weighing in on the move as they slammed director Edu for what they dubbed “bad business”.

Fan reactions

“If this Jorginhio thing is real, Hurl Edu out of my club with immediate effect,” One fan said.

@RicoSWorld81 said:

“Get this Clown out of my club please, tired of supporters enabling this serial failure at the club, can't sell players, can barely broker deals, we are 1st in the league inspite if him not because of him, and take those leeches the Kroenke's with you too.”

If this project doesn’t become a modern arsenal dynasty i got someone to blame #EduOut

Majority of the fans’ frustration revolved around the fact that the club has developed a tendency to always miss out on their major targets.

In the recent past, Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, currently at Juventus, Luis Diaz, who joined Liverpool instead, and more recently Caicedo, who has been subjected to resistance from Brighton.

Jorginho signing makes sense for Arsenal

Sports Brief also analyzed why Jorginho moving to Arsenal might actually be a good move.

After a closer look, the move does make sense for all parties involved. Chelsea has embarked on a massive shake-up of the squad ever since the Todd Boehly-led consortium took over last summer.

With Kante and Kovacic returning and with the club's enhanced pursuit of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, the Italian might find his playing time limited.

At Arsenal, he won't be expected to dislodge the double pivot of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka immediately, but the former has proven to be injury-prone of late.
